8-Day Active Sailing Voyage via the English Channel, culminating in the unforgettable passage up the River Seine
Few sailing experiences allow you to become part of a truly historic maritime spectacle. During this Active Sailing Voyage, you’ll not only sail from Rotterdam to France, but also take part in the Armada Rouen Sail-In—a unique procession in which dozens of magnificent tall ships sail together up the River Seine towards the heart of Rouen.
Departing from Rotterdam, we cross the North Sea before setting course for the English Channel. Following the French coastline south, we eventually reach the mouth of the Seine. From there begins perhaps the most memorable part of the voyage: the long passage upriver to Rouen, where thousands of spectators line the riverbanks to welcome the international fleet of tall ships. This voyage is designed for guests who enjoy taking an active role on board. Together, we sail long passages, stand watch during overnight legs, and work alongside the professional crew to navigate the ship safely to Rouen. The reward? An arrival you’ll never forget.
What can you expect?
- Active sailing at sea
This voyage is all about sailing. Together with our professional crew, you’ll help hoist and trim the sails, take the helm, assist with navigation, and participate in the watch system throughout the voyage. No previous sailing experience is required—just enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved. - Crossing the North Sea and the English Channel
From Rotterdam, we set course for the French coast. Making full use of the wind, tides and tidal streams, we navigate some of Europe’s busiest shipping waters. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to develop your sailing skills while experiencing offshore sailing at its best. - Sailing up the River Seine
As we enter the mouth of the Seine, the scenery gradually changes. The open sea gives way to a winding river bordered by green hillsides, picturesque villages and dramatic white chalk cliffs. With every nautical mile, anticipation builds as Rouen draws closer. - The spectacular Armada Rouen Sail-In
Without question, the highlight of the voyage is the magnificent Sail-In to Armada Rouen. Together with dozens of impressive tall ships from around the world, we make our way towards the city in a breathtaking maritime procession. This extraordinary event only takes place once every few years and is normally experienced from the shore. On this voyage, however, you’ll be part of the fleet itself. Comparable in scale to SAIL Amsterdam, Armada Rouen attracts millions of visitors and hundreds of traditional ships, making it one of the world’s premier maritime festivals. - Arriving during Armada Rouen
Once alongside, the Eendracht becomes part of the heart of Armada Rouen, France’s largest tall ships event and one of the world’s leading maritime festivals. You’ll have ample time to admire the visiting ships, explore the quays, and enjoy the unique atmosphere created by crews and visitors from across the globe.
