After La Gomera the wind finally picks up, and we can sail with the Eendracht! Celebrating New Year’s Eve (almost) on Tenerife – a travel report.
During the Christmas holidays of 2021, I had the chance to go island hopping around the Canary Islands for two weeks aboard the sailing ship Eendracht. In the first week, we visited El Hierro en La Palma. This is part two of my travel report.
La Gomera
After two nights on La Palma, we set off again and soon spotted a group of dolphins. They were pilot whales, the largest dolphin species, and incredibly curious about us. They kept coming over to check us out – so amazing!
While sailing, we saw quite a few more dolphins. It seemed calm at first, but eventually we hoisted a sail again in the evening. Experiencing that at night is truly special. Unfortunately, the wind didn’t last, so it had to come down again around midnight.
