The Eendracht Sailing Ship Foundation is looking for a permanent Bosun with a passion for offshore sailing, a sharp eye for technical details, and a solid dose of team spirit.

We’re a non-profit organization with a mission: to let people of all ages experience the power of offshore sailing. On board the Eendracht, you’ll sail to beautiful destinations, work alongside a fun and dedicated crew (13 permanent staff & 250 volunteers), and be part of unforgettable sea adventures.
What will you be doing?
Together with the other bosun(s), you’ll be responsible for everything that happens on deck – from sail handling to safe mooring and unmooring. You’ll keep oversight, motivate the crew, and ensure everything runs safely and smoothly. You’ll also contribute to sail tactics, plan maintenance, and share your knowledge with trainee quartermasters.
Your responsibilities:
- Leading the crew during sail operations and harbor maneuvers
- Collaborating with the captain on sail strategy and trim
- Training, guiding, and inspiring quartermasters
- Planning & performing maintenance on hull, rigging, accommodation, and sails
- Conducting safety inspections as part of the maintenance plan
Who are we looking for?
A bosun with a passion for both sailing and people. Someone who stays calm in action and enjoys getting things done. In addition, you:
- Have experience with offshore sailing
- Can plan and carry out technical maintenance
- Are socially skilled and a strong communicator
- Have organizational talent and enjoy working with (volunteer) teams
- Speak both Dutch and English well
- Have a valid medical certificate
- Bonus: experience with winch maintenance, splicing Spectra, and sail repair
- Preferably: hold a valid seafarer’s qualification (rating) and safety training (BST, Proficiency, AFF)
