After a warm welcome in Den Helder during Sail Den Helder and the Marinedagen, the sailing ship Eendracht set out for the start of Tall Ship Race 1 (Den Helder – Hartlepool).
Under the leadership of Captain Peter Jongejans and his crew, we quickly secured a strong position. With students from the VeVa program and young sailors from both the Netherlands and abroad, everyone worked tirelessly to maintain our standing. And it paid off! Eendracht crossed the finish line first in Class A and second overall—a remarkable achievement that, as far as we know, has never been accomplished before.
Through incredible teamwork, hard work, and braving all the elements—storm, rain, cold, heat, and calm winds—this group became one, or rather, “Eendracht.” Fun, shared memories, collaboration, and plenty of laughter were rewarded with no fewer than three awards.
Crossing the finish line first earned us “1st in Class A”. “Best in Crew Parade” speaks for itself when you saw the wave of yellow approach. And the ultimate accolade: “Most Participating Crew.” This award perfectly reflects what we stand for and continually demonstrate—voyage after voyage, crew member after crew member.
Congratulations to our captain and his fantastic crew!
